Long-nosed Potaroo

Potorous tridactylus

Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, ACT, Australia - September 2010

Long-nosed Potaroos are medium-sized (40cm), omnivorous marsupials that are mostly nocturnal, although they do occasionally emerge during daylight.  Usually though, they rest during the day in shallow scrapes, or "squats", hidden in dense vegetation.  Their dependence on dense vegetation has led to their decline over most of their range.
