The Black-tailed Deer is a subspecies of Mule Deer that is found in coastal regions of the Pacific coast of North America from northern British Columbia to central California.

They are a medium-sized deer, with males standing about 85-105cm at the shoulder and weighing 50-110kg.  Females are smaller and on average are about 50-70% lighter than the bucks.
