Black-flanked / Black-footed Rock Wallaby

Petrogale lateralis

MacDonnell Ranges, Northern Territory, Australia - October 2014

Endemic to Australia, the Black-footed Rock Wallaby (also commonly known as the Black-flanked Rock Wallaby) is listed as vulnerable by the Australian Government due to its declining numbers and the fragmented and isolated nature of its remaining population which probably amounts to a total of less than 10,000 individuals. It is generally quite shy and inhabits a variety of rocky habitats.
