Celypha lacunana is found throughout the British Isles and Ireland and can be abundant in places. It is one of the commonest moths in my garden during June and July, and again in September when the second brood emerges.
It occurs in a variety of habitats, such as open woodlands, marshes, meadows and gardens where its larvae feed on herbaceous plants.
