The loud, explosive song of Cetti's Warbler is usually the only indication you get to presence of this skulking species. They normally keep to the middle of dense foliage in scrubby wetland habitat, but if you are quiet, patient and a little bit lucky, they do occasionally venture out into slightly more open areas.
In the UK, Cetti's Warblers are scarce residents found only in southern England and Wales. Nottinghamshire, where these photos were taken, is close to the northern limit for this species although the population is expanding rapidly here and they are now (2016) common in the wet bramble scrub of Attenborough and Long Eaton less than 10 years after their first recorded successful breeding.
