Bullfinches are a common and widespread bird throughout most of the Palearctic region where they inhabit a variety of woodland habitats from mixed deciduous to conifer forests, orchards and suburban gardens.
It is generally quite shy and unobtrusive and often the only clue to its presence is its quiet piping call.
