The woodswallows (Artamidae) and butcherbirds (Cracticidae) were formerly treated as separate families, but with the publication of the latest "Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World" (del Hoya & Collar, 2016) they have been lumped together and are now considered to be subfamilies of the Artamidae.
