Lacebugs derive their name from the delicate, lace-like patterning on their pronotum and forewings. Out of the 2000 or so worldwide species 25 occur in Britain.
T. cardui is a common species found throughout most of Britain on its hostplant, Spear Thistle (Cirsium vulgare).
