The loud, explosive song of Cetti's Warbler is usually the only indication you get to presence of this skulking species. They normally keep to the middle of dense foliage in scrubby wetland habitat, but if you are quiet, patient and a little bit lucky, they do occasionally venture out into slightly more open areas. It took me a total of about 20-30 hours of patient waiting near bushes where the birds were singing before I finally managed to get these photos...
In the UK, Cetti's Warblers are scarce residents found only in southern England and Wales. Nottinghamshire, where these photos were taken, is close to the northern limit for this species.
