This male Orange-backed Troupial spent a couple of minutes prising a large spider out from its daytime retreat between a couple of dead leaves. It looked very pleased with itself afterwards...
It was formerly considered to be conspecific with I. icterus but was promoted to full species when no evidence of hybridisation was found in areas where their ranges overlapped.
