Yellowhammers have declined significantly in Britain over recent years, mainly due to intensive agricultural practices destroying their habitat and reducing available food.
Its a different story in New Zealand where they were introduced by European settlers in the mid-1800's and are now one of the commonest landbirds in New Zealand.
