Short-winged Conehead has a mostly southern distribution in Britain but there are populations around the Lancashire and southern Cumbria coasts and, in 2016, a population in SW Scotland was discovered. It is found in two distinct habitats: coastal saltmarshes and lowland bogs, fens and reedbeds inland.
