The Egyptian Grasshopper is one of Europe's largest grasshopper, growing up to 70mm (2.8inches) in length. It can be differentiated from the similar Migratory Locust (Locusta migratoria) by its striped eyes and indented pronotal keel but, unlike that species, the Egyptian Grasshopper is solitary and causes no significant damage to crops.
