February was a relatively quiet month. A planned camping trip to the Scottish Highlands at the beginning of the month had to be cancelled at the last minute due to my car breaking down again and I was left without transport for most of the month until I eventually bought a replacement. Luckily, since I live within easy walking distance of Attenborough Nature Reserve, I was at least able to make a few visits on the rare occasions that it wasn't raining.
Grey Herons are always one of the first species to start nesting activity and by the middle of the month they were busy collecting branches to repair their nests.
Tree Sparrows are always reliable around the bird-feeders in front of the Kingfisher Hide...
Below the feeders, several Brown Rats were frequently feeding on the spilt grain...
A male Pheasant was also feeding on the spilt seeds and temporarily chased away the rats.
All of the above photos were taken at Attenborough Nature Reserve in Nottinghamshire.
