I was continuing to rehabilitate my ankle injury this month, so didn't get out to do much photography again. Good news is that I can now walk almost pain-free so hopefully I'll be fully fit again in time for my big trip to Peru at the end of November.
Since we were finally getting some sunny weather, I took a couple of trips down to Gigrin Farm for more action photos of Red Kites...
To give you an idea of how fast these birds are travelling when they grab their piece of meat from the ground, the two photos above and below were taken only 0.12 seconds apart! This bird wasn't quite successful and dropped the meat...
Once they have successfully grabbed a piece of meat from the ground, they often eat it on the wing....

The "white" Kite put in a brief appearance on one of the days...
It is over 5 years since I first photographed this bird, and it is still getting persecuted by the other kites for being different...
There were, of course, a few Buzzards hanging around too.
...and Ravens.
Rooks are the most common crow that visit the farm for the free feast...
